How To Use Your Bark Begone

Congratulations on your purchase! The Bark Begone ultrasonic dog trainer uses ultrasonic technology to emit sound waves that get your dog’s attention, so it will refocus on you and your training command, and away from the unwanted behavior your dog is engaged in.

The Bark Begone ultrasonic trainer uses a frequency of 20-25 kHz, which is difficult for humans to hear, but is well within the hearing range for dogs. Using a simple sound will not negatively affect a dog’s hearing or health, and it is an effective and safe choice for training your dog!

HOW TO GET STARTED

When you first receive your Bark Begone ultrasonic dog trainer, please charge the device for a minimum of 4 hours.

The red light will continue to charge when the included charging cable is plugged in. When the light turns blue, your device is ready to use!

You can charge the Bark Begone device by connecting your charging cable to any 5V device, including your laptop, PC, power bank, or adaptor!

**When the Bark Begone’s battery level is lower than 20% charged, a red light will be displayed whenever using any function.

HOW TO USE

When your dog is barking, or exhibits any unwanted behavior, you can use the training mode to interrupt their behavior, give them the training command, and then reward your dog to cement their response to the sound+command sequence. Rewards should be enthusiastic praise, petting, and a small food reward for best results.

The black ‘arrow’ (see above) is used for the Bark Begone’s ‘training’ mode. The training mode uses 20-25 kHz ultrasonic waves. When pressing this button, the device will cycle through low, medium, and hight ultrasonic frequencies in this range to further protect your dog’s sensitive hearing.

After repeated interruption, plus the owner’s patient training, the dog will develop a conditioned reflex and the unwanted behavior should greatly reduce.

Some dogs will become immune to the ultrasonic sound, since it is not punitive and does not harm them, but only if they are not receiving enough positive reinforcement. You should email us at hello@barkbegone.com for our CER reconditioning series if this happens to your dog

The orange ‘arrow’ (see image) is used for the Bark Begone’s ‘outdoors’ mode. The frequency of the outdoor mode is both higher and faster, and it is more suitable for startling and deterring a dog in a public setting.

The frequency at this mode is a steady 25 kHz, and it does not pulse to lower frequencies. When the button is pressed, the LED light will flash as long as the ultrasonic sound is released. This ultrasonic wave can cover a range of 30-35 feet, but it is most effective within 15 feet. Use with caution and DO NOT use indoors when training your dog, as the volume is too loud for humane indoor use.

Other Bark Begone functions

The LED selection on the side switch will provide a lighting mode to use when walking your dog at night, providing visibility for you while you walk, as well as making you more visible to vehicles while walking.

When using the outdoor function (orange button) the LED will flash with the release of the ultrasonic wave.

When the side switch is in the middle position, the product is ready to be used with the ultrasonic orange/black buttons. No sound is released in this mode until either button is pressed.

The bottom, locked mode for the side switch indicates that the product is off and will not activate. This will ensure your device travels safely in a bag or pocket without disturbing your dog or draining your battery
